Its only illegal if you get you car tested for emissions. You'll have to take out the secondary O2 sensor and by doing so you'll get a CEL. I know the Primary O2 sensor helps in control the a/f ratio, but I don't know how important the secondary is to controlling the a/f ratio.

A "test pipe" is Illegal to use on the street in all 50 states, regardless of whether or not they test for emissions in your area. It is against federal law to remove or disable the catalytic convertor on any car regsitered for the street.

Read: http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resour...hsysrepair.pdf

You will also get a CEL due to the secondary O2 sensor being removed.

I know its illegal I was just trying to state that you're probably not going to get caught unless you at an SCCA street touring event, or the cop really knows his stuff.

do some searching and find ( which is not very hard!) an OBDII --> OBDI. That completely takes the second O2 sensor ie: the one thats gonna throw the code, out! WHile your at it get a chipped ecu! with the II-->I harness itll fix it where what you want will work!

you can do that but it wont do anything. the second o2 sensor checks to see if the cat is doing its job. since you removed the cat obviously the gases will not be "clean" enough and will trip your second o2 sensor.

be careful about removing your cat, it's like a $10,000 federal fine if you are caught and if the person that catches you feels like citing you.
