Default Ignition switch problem ?

Yesterday I had to replace my ignition everything worked fine car started up but now my radio does not work anymore. It was working fine before the switch so I do not know what could have changed. Also I was in a bind a had to use a switch out of a 90 Integra the extra wires it had on it I didnt use. If that might have anything to do with it. My car is a 1993 Prelude Si by the way

Yeah the weird thing is that the clock works and everything just not the radio itself . The clock and radio both run off the same fuse thats why it does not make any sense.

Is it the original deck, or a.m c.d player?

Check all of your fuses first...like he said.

If nothing, check your grounds and hot leads to the deck. If all is well with the deck, pull the dash, and kill the clock.....It'll eventually go bad anyway. Also causes less confusion within the ecm, when pulling trouble shooting codes.

After cutting the clock, my ecm started showing a code that didn't exist. Which I'm still pondering.....If you have a C.D player or a watch, you don't need the clock...Right?

Its an aftermarket cd deck all the hots fuses and grounds are good. What would pulling the clock out have to do with the radio ? I dont understand

I am guessing that you have other items not working also that you have not yet discovered, did you plug the old switch back in to troubleshoot and see if these items start to work again.

Everything else works but the radio, If I plug in the old one nothing works but the radio. Does it matter that the new switch is from the an integra are they all the same ?

You need to test the radio's switched power and main power see which one has no voltage. But since you changed the ignition I would suspect the switched power.

That is what I am getting at, the radio works with the bad switch and does not work with the new one, its not the correct switch, you stated you had extra unused wires.

Are you talking about the wires that attach to the back of the keyed cylinder? I understand being in a pinch but if the one from the teg didn't have the proper wires then that is probably why you don't get power to your radio. I'm surprised it cranks, or does it? I might can scrounge up a switch from my spare prelude if you need one that is the proper one for your car. My parts car is not at my house so it would be tomorrow afternoon before i could go and get it.
