i was driving my 93 lude, the clock, temp gauge, and gas gauge started flickering and went black..then my doors started locking and unlocking while i was driving, anyway.. the next day i went to start my car, it started, but then it started flickering again, my whole dash went black, and then my car died. went to start it again, but the key wont hold in place, if i hold my key, the car stays on, but if i let go, the key falls back and the car turns off.. sooo could this be the ignition switch? thanks to anyone who can help!, Jaclyn.

 

Yea, defanitely sounds like your ignition switch has gone out

 

yes it could be the ignition switch but if u hold the key and the car stays on i would put a new lock cylinder in it as well they are 2 different parts

 

My car did the exact same thing as yours, aside from the flickering gauges.
My car would start and run if I held the key down also.
So I would say its your Ignition switch, but something else might also be wrong if your gauges and locks were freaking out like that.

 

yeah, i hope all that is wrong with it is the ignition switch.. ive been without my car for a few days and its killing me..ive been driving another car but its no fun. and i will keep the lock cylinder in mind in case replacing the switch isnt enough..
