idle control
after my lude warms up to normal idle speed it starts reving between 1,000 and 2,000 rpms. it does this everytime i push in the clutch or put it into neutral. i have ideas on what it might be, but i don't want to just start replacing parts. idle air control sensor? whata ya think? it's getting annoying because everytime i pull to a light, the person beside me thinks i want to race. 15 times yesterday actually.
Start your car and let it warm up to operating temp (radiator fans come on once).
Turn car off and unplug IACV sensor.
Start car once again, if your idle is stable, around 750 rpm, the you know the IACV is a problem but may not be the only one.

ok, after i did this it idled at 1,600 rpm. definitally to high, but at least it was consistent. does this mean iacv sensor is bad?
it could be bro i got the same damn problem could be your tps too I plan on changin mine as well. those parts are so hard to find. And wait it gets worse the dealer only sells that part along with the throttlebody assembly 500 + tax
to make sure i'm unplugging the right sensor, which sensor is located on the backside, just beside the air intake where it enters the throttle body? and which sensor are you saying was 500, the tps or the iacv?
Hey,
clean the IAC! It cures well messed up idle... Unscrew two screws, unplug two cooler lines, clean it inside and put it together and you're done! It's like an hour job as it's not easy to reach the screws (use proper tools). You'll see how much dirt is in your IAC. Mine was completely blocked with carbon-oil-**** build-up. I used some quite strong cleaner to get the dirt rid of. After that reset the ECU an set your idle with screw in TB. The end
Enjoy your proper idle

since the surging stopped by removing the sensor, i don't believe that dirt is my culprit. i checked with honda, the tps is part of the throttle body. however, the piece which contains the sensor is only part of the throttle body, so the $500 piece from honda, is that the entire throttle body, or just the small piece where the air intake connects. i plan on going to a junkyard tomorrow to pull one off another lude, if i can find one.

it can also be the fast idle thermo valve or a vacuum leak or the pcv valve or the egr valve or an intake manifold leak.. its really an endless battle some people are lucky and fix it some replace part after part.. its very common
