I need Direction!!!
Whats up all, i just got the jdm h22 w/ lsd on the road the other week and now that ive got CAI/exhaust/u8nderdrive pullies i was trying to decide the inevitable answer to mans greatest question NA or turbo...... id like to get a couple suggestions with some input on what you think aswell my next step is cams/gears than either build for turbo or build for na, so whatd u think
that question is answered as simply as this:
HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO SPEND?!?!?!
YES, turbo will give you better gains. But setup is $$$ (well to do it right anyway). Try checking out the price of some kits. If you don't want to spend huge bucks on bullettproofing your engine, FMAX and Greddy for example offer very basic kits, and that is pretty much as cheap as you can get a FI setup for. Any of these kits should give you a fair kick in the pants as far as power is concerned, but that brings us to the second all important question...
WHAT KIND OF POWER ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?!?!?!?
If you are happy with a milder setup then stick with an NA approach. Cams, gears and engine management would probably be your next step here (considering what you already have), and if you really want to go nuts try a stroker kit and/or bigger displacement pistons (and maybe up the CR). But then again, you'll be getting into the same price bracket as a FI kit on a stock engine... You see the dilemma.
No one can decide which way to go for you, thats the hard part, and you gotta do it for yourself. MY advice however (and this is purely MY opinion) is this:
You have already started building a H22 for NA, so stick with it- You will have wasted your money on the cat-back and CAI if you decide to go with a FI setup. Turbo setups cost you good money to start, and more good money to maintain, so whatever you decide to do be prepared for anything, and plan everything in advance- otherwise you end up wasting money on stuff that you are gonna replace in the long run. (been there done that
)
Sorry to rant on, I'm in the middle of my own FI build up at the mo, and I can tell you that it's a very frustrating process. (especially since I'm a cop and I've gotta do everything legal!
)
Anyway, hope it helps.

What do I think?? Forced Induction has no business on Hondas. They are motors designed to make pretty impressive power for such small displacement motors. They are mainly designed for the track (you know...the one with turns too :D)). With that said, NA is the only option in my mind.
Putting FI on a FWD car is not the best idea in my mind. If you are thinking about FI, I think you have the wrong car. If you bought your car to be fas tin a straight line only, again, I think you bought the wrong car. I would get something RWD, and possibly already comes turbo from the factory.
Trying to make the car something it was not intended to be
Just my opinion. Good luck in your decision.
