Default HID problem

I have a set of Mccolluch HID's on my 97 SH and when I installed them the passenger light would flicker on and off constantly.

The drivers side was fine, but I don't get why the passenger would be doing this?

Bad bulb? wiring? ballasts bad?

Anybody experience any problems with their plug and play HID kits?

Thanks

usually if you have a problem with your HIDs flickering, it's the ballast or ignitors

They are gone, blown i think it might be the ballast, call them up and use the warranty

yeah, if they run off the same circuit you might wanna use a slightly higher rated fuse (providing the wires in other system can handle the added current, which im not sure). read how much watts they put out, post it and i will tell you how much higher of a fuse you'd need to prevent blowing fuses.

Yeah I finally realized that the fuse was the problem when i put my stock bulbs back in and nothing lit up.

I raised the fuse to 20A from a 15A and now it works perfectly fine.

Thanks guys for your help

um, i dnt know much about car electric. but i know house electric, unless the wire is rated to handle 20 amps u shouldnt really fuse it at 20 amps.

Well the fuse kept burning out when I had the 15A in there so, I updgraded to the 20A.

Now it works fine

Im supprised you havent fried something else out.....upping the amps means its conducting more electricity at either start up or its grounding somewhere. Ohms law, learn it.....auto/home/life its the same no matter what

You know, he's not trying to be a dick as much as warn you about it.

I would wire a relay in with some heavier gauge wire that is rated to support the HIDs.

Best advice thus far

Take your normal signal wire for your Headlamps (ON) and run that to power the relay. Take a direct FUSED line from the battery, or splice via the headlights fuses. I would find an extra fuse block that will support the fuse you would need, and run that. Your ballast will run via 12v DC. Run your 12v to the input of the relay, and then run your output to the Positive of the Ballast. Then Ground Appropriately. Run proper guaged and amperage wire to the ballasts from the relay. That way you wont fry out your stock wires, and if you go back to stock you wont have to cut and slice too much. If you do it right you should just be able to remove the HID setup and relay setup and call it a day, going back to stock

The obvious way to narrow down the problem to find out whether its the bulb or ballast/ignitor is to switch the bulbs between the two and see if the same problem continues with the good bulb and whether or not the so called bad bulb is still acting up. Bad bulbs can cause flickering as well. How do i know this? From personal experience.
