help with stuttering?
My car is horibly stuttering at any speed and rate of acceleration except idle, i have replaced the distributor. My tach used to jump in rpm all over the place ( untill it got stolen last week, carbon fiber autometer monster tach with blue lens shift light, R.I.P.) But now my speedo is jumping up ,and down, i got fed up with the stuttering and pushed clutch in and revved to wot a couple times and since then it drives like a brand new car. but tommoroww im sure it wil be back to stutering, Do you think it is my speed sensor? somone said it could be my CAT? and that gutting it may solve the problem, but i live in CA and thats a last option, TIA for your help
I have the same exact problem...but when I drive it hard, it'll drive perfect again. Kind of the same as your situation but instead you said you put yours on neutral and revved to wot. It goes away but I know it'll come back, exactly what you said. I also heard about it being the cat, possibly something with vacuum lines leaking and I also heard something about the speed sensor. I don't know anything about fixing the problem tho.
Also when you said your speedo jumps all over the place, is it just your gauge or is your car's actual speed affected, like the car running in an erratic way.

no the speedo jumping is completely unrelated to speed, accually it looks more like a tach than anything, earlier to day i pushed the clutch all the way in on the free wayt and let it coast a bit and the speedo went to 0 untill i let the clutch out again
Crawl under the car and bang on the cat to see if anything is loose in there. From my brothers experience his cat was coming apart and since it was creating so much backpressure it would stutter all over the place. But this is just my 2 cents.
