Default Help please!

Hello to everyone,

Ive been reading this forum for a while now but finally decided to sign up and be a part of the prelude community on honda-tech. I live in Ottawa, Canada and I own a Honda Prelude 95 Vtech (which is the SRV model in Canada)

Anywayz,

got an 2.5" stainless exhaust intalled 2 days ago and since it came back from my mechanic, its been doing strange stuff. It bucks when starting in first gear and same thing when descelerating in first gear. Stalled once. Gear dont shift smoothly so i need to force them in by pulling or pushing harder into the gear. What the hell is going on? Its spent 3 days in and came back worse then it was? My mechanic is very nice and ive been dealing with him for a while now. I dont think he would do anything to my car. Problem is, hes in florida until the 22nd...in a week! i dont wanna drive my car like that and dont wanna pay for another mechanic..so im going with any help that you might give me!

thank you

Speed

what did your mechanic do to your exactly? did he install the exhaust? or did he do tune-up kind of stuff? it sounds like he may have changed your tranny fluid for you with regular motor oil. this won't hurt your transmission at all, in fact a lot of transmissions probably run on motor oil. but honda manual transmissions tend to shift much better and smoother if you use actual manual transmission fluid. i would recommend genuine honda manual transmission fluid, but others on here also use GM syncromesh. if he did mess with any of your fluids, try changing the fluid and see if that helps the shifting.

as for your bucking problem, my car does that too. it happens when you let off the gas suddenly, which causes engine braking and the weight of the car to shift back and forth somewhat voilently. i think this becomes more noticable as you add more power to your car in my opinion.
