Default Help with Picture Thread

I sent this IM to a couple of people:Can we get a consensious on the pic forum not to talk **** back and forth. I personally don't like the quoting with pics. I understand that you are regulating, and respect that. I just think we need another mod for this forum, because no one respects other users. I sent this message to a couple other people that I respect on this forum. I'm just saying we should approach a mod with some idea on compromise, and then enforce that. My email is junk@terraworld.net if you send me an email I will forward it to anyone else that sends an email, as a sort of petition.

I would hope this would be a better place for a discussion on the subject then in the pic thread its self.

Please post with an open mind on a solution, and not with a grudge to settle.
Thanks
Matthew Pierson

Good idea man. I honestly think the fighting fire with fire idea isnt going to work, even though im guilty of it myself as of late.

The only solution is either to get another hardcore mod to just go in and delete the hourly BS or for people to just get some common sense/courtesy and do what they're supposed to which is use PM's, Email, or other means of communication.

all i wish we could do is compliment other member cars...i love getting public feedback on my car, it makes the time/money/aggervations of working on my car seem to be worth it. I hate the quoting of pictures and all that BS...I just want no argueing, no negative comments. Only compliments or serious questions.

amen.....its a pic thread not a post *****/argue thread. i think there shouldn't be any text besides a poster who's posting pics. no posts simply saying nice car. make it a post saying "hey man that's a nice car love the wheels. here's some of mine" and post your own pics. if people break the rules some discipline should be taken whether it be docking them points or banning them from the thread for period of time.

another idea i had but i know wont happen is we have 2 threads. linked together where we can post pics and talk all we want but the posted pics also get stored in a diff thread that's locked with only the pics.

personally i think the pic thread should be used for pics, and thats it...if you want Kudos for your car.....take it to the A/C section. or people can learn to use the PM feature

"Be Advised:
Periodically I will go through a delete posts that are simply comments about a car etc. This will prevent the thread from becoming 300 pages."

there are garbage posts since the beginning of the thread, how long of a period are we looking at? it'd be nice if a mod could go through now and delete the garbage.

personally, i dont mind comments... because you can just scroll past them and just look at the pictures. but when a whole page only has like 2 or 3 pictures on it, i get upset. so as long as comments are at a minimum, i dont think its a problem. quoting pictures is what gets to me. you see a car, scroll down, and there it is again. the same exact pictures. two posts later. no need for that.

i've made a few posts in that thread. But if i want to comment on someones car, i usually send an IM.

Anthony does a great job in here, but he cant possibly be online 24 hours and run his shop. And honestly, i ran Superhonda for awhile. On such large forums, being a moderator gets very old and very repetitive. So i can understand them not doing some things although it needs to be done.

Carnage86: lovely shots jd3- and very nice hatch.

I personall think posts like this are ok. No harm done, Easy to look past!

thats the problem, if you allow posts like that....it will only get cluttered again, so why not do away with them for good. thats the only solution so you dont end up with 2 pictures on every page...

FOR EXAMPLE: when i posted pictues in the thread about my wheels being refinished.....and then i posted another picture....within those couple on hours i probably got 7 PM from people asking from what i did to looks good. THAT is how it should be done.

All I think it would take is someone to periodicaly go ahead and delete the old comments. As for people that think there should be no comments at all, why post it at all in a forum. You posted so people could see. I couldnt think of a person after putting on new wheels or tryn a diff look with their car, wouldnt want feedback. And is it realy that hard to scroll past the text?

yes...when there is 2 people with actual picture posts on a thread, it does make it hard.

and like i said...if you want feedback on your car Post SOME pictures in the Prelude thread, and add a LINK to your A/C thread....that simple

its a picture thread. If you want to post a comment, send them an IM. You dont have to make it be known to the world that you think the car looks good. And yes, scrolling past 2-3 pages of text and quoting of the same picture over and over, it gets old.

I have made a thread like this before but it was about the prelude forum in general. And as you can see, nothing changed and i doubt making this thread will change anything either.

What i would do is completely delete the picture thread and start a new one with grounded rules and rules that will be enforced.

wow.. not delete.. what about just a lock and let it fall into the archive? all those pictures would be lost. a fresh start is a good idea though

Example of what I dont like:

Soundbombers last post in the picture thread (when i posted this).

He quoted 2 pictures that were just posted 4 posts up...

Could have merely said what he said instead of REposting the 2 pix.

honestly, why not. Who in their right mind is really going to go through all 5000+ posts in that thread?

Now, If each of those 5000+ posts contained a picture, that would be a different story.

Commenting and posting a picture at the same time is great

easiest solution is to just move the prelude picture thread to appearance/cosmetic and chat away. i really don't see what the big deal about posting in it is anyways. that's just my opinion at least

I understand your point of view. However for us "noobs" who ask questions concerning a certain picture, instead of someone recieving 30 pms the question can be answered right there on the page. What is more annoying recieving constant pms about your ride or one or 2 on a page you "dont" have to look at? I do agree with you some pages are full of nothing...where are these monitors anyway? I have looked in other forums...civic...integra...comments after ever picture is just as common. However somthing should be done, I will use the pm feature from now on. However questions or comments that may benifit others I will not keep to myself.

and is this the Civic and Integra Forums? NO....this forum has always held itself to a higher standard than the others, and has always been enforced more than the other forums, and i personally would like to keep that higher standard

a good portion of that thread is held to minimum comments and even less trash talking. there is nothing gained from deleting it. a lock would let it be there for whoever wants to look back at preludes from before this "picture thread crisis."

I respect your opinion... however its just that...your opinion. Everyone has their own, which makes me wonder if this would ever be resolved. I, on the other had would rather not recieve 30pms

there is no crisis. This matter is so small and the staff of honda-tech has bigger fish to fry rather than some noobs who joined a few months ago and dont care for rules. oh well.
