This problem started today suddenly, and i dont have a clue as to what could be causing it.

I have a 93 lude (non-vtec), only aftermarket parts are intake, header, and cat. Manual Transmission. I'm at about 150k miles and I believe it still has the original clutch.

Earlier today, i noticed a strange metal-sounding vibration/rattling noise when i let off the gas or shifted. Then all of a sudden, it seems like the car has no more power. When the rpms get close to or above 2k, the car lurches really violently, like a horrible shift.. even when im not shifting. Up to that point, the car feels like it has about half the power it should. It sounds really odd too, louder, and theres a noise when i accelerate that i think sounds like air rushing. It's so bad that i had trouble getting home due to even the smallest hills. It won't go over about 20mph.

This happens in every gear, and the check engine light only came on about 20 min after it started acting like this.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

how expensive was that fix? i know it wasnt the same car, but im just trying to get a ballpark figure so i know what im in for.. lol

Prob the same motor tho correct? Im not 100% sure what motors come in the non vtec. I thought it was an F22

 

yes the engine is F22B DOHC Non Vtec =]

if it is in fact the engine block, im just wondering how much roughly that would cost to fix.. parts etc..

tough luck man. you could do a full h22 swap for about $2000 ballpark.

 

ya i saw that... 2g including tranny... =[

 

putting another engine in shouldnt be too bad sicne its another lude engine and that one has been swapped already.
