HELP! how to modify intake
I just bought an Prelude about a week ago and already I have 1000 miles on it... I was going to drop in a K&N cone filer on it that a friend of mind had but the tube (hose) was too short... I was thinking of modifying it but i really dont know where to find parts...
1.) How big should the filter be. Do I gain more power if I get a
larger(big) filter compared to a smaller(narrow like the iceman cai filter)?
Which filter is the best to put in?
2.) How should I modify the hose to make it longer? What do I need,
where to find it, How to do it?

i wouldn't mess with trying to "custom" fit some generic K+N to fit your car.
buy a kit. either AEM or Iceman or DC or soemthing. make sure it's CARB approved if you're in California.
about $200 at most.
you will gain some power, but not *that* much. you will feel it, but it is minor.
you are better off spending money to upgrade your suspension, tires, etc. you will get more *bang* out of your buck.
our cars really don't make much more power no matter how much bolt on stuff you add, unless you're going to bolt on forced induction or nitrous. but the basic intake/exhaust/header/pulleys/etc etc etc doesn't make a big difference.
on normally aspirated cars that are already pretty efficient from the factory, that have OBD-II computers, don't make much more power. sorry.

You can always feel a difference when increasing a vehicles volumetric efficiency (intake primarily) and its not a bad idea to use a kit that is designed for the purpose. But if you already have the cone filter and you can't spend the dough on a complete system any local performance shop should be able to supply you with a cheap L or J-bend 3" chrome tube ($25$-35). This should get the extra distance you need for the filter to fit, and should also fit on the stock airbox tubing, dont forget to buy some extra 3" hose clamps. One suggestion though, if your just lookin for that throaty H22 sound, you can remove the lower airbox assembly under the bumper for free and get plenty of roar while you save up for your AEM Cold Air(recommended)
