Except for things like badging, are there any other ways to tell if I got a 94-96 Prelude VTEC or a Prelude SI/SE

Thanks in advance!

If your redline on your tach is at 7500, you have a VTEC. If it's at 6500, then you have an Si, and then if it's an S it'll be a little below 6500.

You could also look at the engine or vin tag. It'll say BB2, BB4 etc....

People do perform swaps (usually w/out swapping tacs). I'd suggest looking at the motor.
If the valve cover has
DOHC vtec = Vtec
DOHC (no mention of vtec) = SI
SOHC = S

Well, if someone buys a Prelude S model and swaps in an H22, is it now VTEC model or is it still an S with a swap??

My H23 only had the honda logo and said honda underneath it. It didnt say DOHC anywhere on it.
