Recently i had that same exact problem. For no particular reason one afternoon i tried to get into reverse and was unable to do so. Later that day i took the car to my tech and he played around with the shifter for a while and got it going back into reverse gear. Truly strange and unexplainable.

just hope it's a syncro or something really cheesy. My friend ripped a gear or two and wasn't able to get it into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and reverse in his RX-7. Ended up having to get a new tranny off of ebay

I have had this happen twice now on my Prelude. Marcucci has written a very good write up on it here.

real racers dont need reverse

do any of your other gears grind at all? and when trying to get into reverse you try jiggling it into gear while you let the car roll a little?

I just let out the clutch, re-engage it and try putting it in reverse again. usually does the trick

hey i use to have the same problem too. i have a 94 honda prelude. to not make it stuck, if you are reversing already, and if you go back to neutral, try to stop before going back to reverse. if you don't make a stop, it will grind and may not go to reverse gear anymore. it happened to me twice. to fix it, step on the clutch very deep and and pull the gear to reverse very hard. it won't go in yet. then step a little gas, while slowly releasing the clutch to make the gear grind. making the grind may or will let a loose to the reverse gear.
