I was driving back from work today and randomly, sometimes the front speakers would cut out. Going to the gas station, sometimes the front driver's side speakers would cut. Would this most likely be a problem with the headunit or wiring harness?

 

sounds like a short in your wire somewhere. doesnt sounds like a head unit problem.
eliminate the possibility that its the actual speaker by switching your front left and right speakers. if your front right starts shorting and the front left is happy, it's the speaker.
