will a h23 headgasket fit on h22a1? if not, what else other than h22 will work?

Why not just get the right one instead of hacking it?

im in hawaii, as you can see. i have called hevery auto part store and even both dealerships, no one has it for the h22. plus im curious, not hacking. but if you can put a h22 head on a h23 block or f22 block, why cant you use the gasket for those engines? i have a brand new gasket, but it was sitting for a while during the build and i had another one. but the teflon came off in spots on both sides. can i reuse it, by applying permatex gasket sealant or Copper SPRAY-A-GASKET Hi Temp Adhesive Sealant?

Probably not because I think the head on the h23 has a couple more holes then the h22.
Just buy the h22 HG.

BTW, H23 and H22 timing belts are different. Found that out last night. =]

No match the headgasket to the head.

Why not just order online from a OEM Honda parts dealer? The dealer may not stock it but I'm sure they could order it.

Majestic Honda has always been good to me--fast shipping and good communication. Prices are fairly high though, if you're a good deal shopper. Otherwise it's worth it.

I've always heard match the gasket to the block. And yes, please get the right gasket; even the h22a1 and h22a4 gaskets are different. If you want to know if headgaskets are interchangeable, check the part numbers either at your local dealership or online.

Your local dealership should be able to order it in; what else would they do if you brought it to them to change it?

I would imagine that if the gasket is larger or smaller than OEM spec, you will get different compression results.
