Ceramic is just a coating, so it should play no role in the sound of the exhaust.

From wat Ive seen, all 4 cylinder cars sound ricey when u add headers. Well on the Tc's anyway. We usually just add a 18-24 inch res, or watever will fit on our midpipe, and that usually helps get rid of rasp.

Thickness of the pipes has an effect, if I remember right.

Yes, thickness will and so will material (mild steel, 304, etc). Does it sound "ricey" now inside the cabin or out back behind the exhaust? If you're talking about inside the cabin, you're likely just hearing more engine noise now. Out back if the tone changed, I'd take a guess that exhaust velocity increased (due to less restriction) and this changed the sound characteristics going through the cat and muffler. Also, was is it the same configuration as before (4-1 or 4-2-1)?
