Long story short, an H22A4 auto tensioner failed on me which caused me to bend my valves at 74k RPMs. A mechanic told me just replace the head but another tells me ive spun a bearing and bent the valves which calls for a new engine.

With that said, i do not know which direction to go with. replace it and hope that my bearing is fine. or replace the entire engine with an H23 vtec. i do not feel anything weird with the engine, just the loud tapping noise its doing due to the bent valves.
any advice/ procedures i should take before making a decision?

also if i were to replace the engine to a h23 vtec, would the cams from an h22a4 fit as a replacement?

any help would be great.
