Ok then, will the motor make a light knock if the balance oil shafts are off then?

that had nothing to do with knocking. It may cause some vibration depending on who you ask but shouldnt cause a knock.

Ok trying to figure out why a rebuilt motor starts with a slight knock. Ive built several motors and never had a problem. First time with h22. All clearences came out good too. zero miles on motor. My friend primed the oil pump before starting the motor also. At least he said he did, then started it and he heard a knock then cut it off. He called me and i walked him threw the steps again and he started it and i heard nothing. I know the car needs to run for 20 min till operating temps at idle before revving the motor. Just trying to make sure i covered the basics first.
Thanks guys

are the balancer shafts out of the motor completely, or just the belt is off. If you took them out completely did you block their oil passages?

What's the oil pressure like at idle right after start up?

I didn't remove them, i put them back in. They might be off a tab, not sure. And oil pressure. Not sure what it is. No oil pressure gauge in the car.

If you put the balancer shafts back in did you put the belt back on?

Did you unblock any oil passages that may have been blocked previously?

The balance shafts could be slightly off alignment, you might double check that. IMO they are sort of hard to get going just right....

So if they are off balance, this would happen? And i guess we should of replaced that bearing also.
