h22a tear down
hey guys sorry i didnt search but i need to just know asap if im gonna run into any snags taking the h22 out of my buddies lude and replavcing the block with another one(blew a rod)...i apologize if theres already a thread but this is more or less just a ? about troubles i may run into...i have done b series swaps before so i just want to know if theres any special little trickds to get the block out of the top of the the body not the bottow(im used to lifts)..any help would be greatly appreciated but mods please dont delete just move if you have to...thanc guys
i hsve done plety of swaps before its just my source for a lift(my father who i dont talk to anymore) so i wanna know its how much of a pain in the *** to take it out from the top
its not.
you'll need to shimmy the transmission a little bit. I would recommend removing the transmission mount. The only thing i ran into was one of the studs on the tranny mount got in the way. I pulled it out along with the mount and fixed that clearance issue.

i usually leave a bit more length of chain on the tranny side so the engine will "tilt" upwards (towards the drivers side) when i pull it out. it's usually @ about a 20-30 degree incline i figure. bring it to the farthest drivers side corner @ an angle....watch the tps sensor....rooks always break it on the firewall. don't forget the ps switch @ bottom drivers corner either
ok well let me tell you the situation since i didnt originally...the motor is apart(supposedly)..im not sure what im getting myself into but supposedly the head is off or unbolted so it can come right off im not sure...once i get the car here, i wil give you guys the update on the condition so you can steer me in the right direction....but you guys have helped me a lot so far....dont delete this out of your watched topics because it will be within a couple days when i actually see the car so i need you guys here
if the tranny's off, u can leave the crank pulley on.
if the tranny's on, u have to take the crank pulley off.
make sure you get all the mounts /harnesses/coolant lines off and marked and in the proper positions. other than that you shouldn't run into any problems. an impact gun works wonders for time saving.

trust me i know but an Impact gun isnt an option because my a$$hole father is a scumbag and we dont talk anymore...he has every tool possible becuase he is a car/truck/light duty/ and heavy duty mechanic so he has a compressor and welder on his truck with everything you can think of....well........we had at it so no more good tools, just simple hand tools....hpefully eveything goes ok
