You need the speedo gear ring for the VSS sensor.
You cannot buy the speedo gear ring from the Honda dealer. It's not available separately on the Prelude (like it is on the Civic, etc). The speedo gear ring is not machined into the stock differential. It's a press fit. Use a 3 jaw gear puller and a propane torch. Heat the gear ring up to help it expand, and use the puller to very gently pull the gear off of the differential. Don't warp it or break it since you cannot easily buy another one without buying a whole diff assembly. I've done it 5 or 6 times, and it's not bad. Just go slow, and try not to break it.

I didn't even need a gear puller when I did mine. Just a torch. And I tapped it off really easily with a hammer and center punch. Keep the gear hot with the torch and it should slide right onto the new diff. When it cools, it will lock into place.
