H22 timging belt Autotensioner Adjuster Bearing?
I got an h22a and im doing the timing after a rebuild
What's confusing me is why is to there no type of bearing used to pivot the adjuster (the cast iron thing that tensions the timing belt.
In red I highlighted this type of bearing thing that I think I'm missing.
It was like this when I bought the engine so I dont' know whats going on
Can anyone confirm that this is a bearing that I'm missing, since there is no type of bearing whatsoever on my jdm H22A. I think the guy just pressed the tensioner tight and tightened that bolt hard thus freezing the belt into tension ala manual tensioner style.

Re: H22 timging belt Autotensioner Adjuster Bearing?
Sounds like a good opportunity to change to the manual tensioner setup. ...but ya, that tensioner bearing on the auto tensioner needs to pivot freely, so you need that bushing if you want it to work as intended.

switch to the manual tensioner. especially if you have the old parts from your h23 laying around, if you had one.

I have that part new in the package if u would like to buy. Replace the autotensioner itself too, it's worth to replace it while you're in here.

You can get it from the dealer or you can do some searches for "h22 to h23 manual tensioner conversion" and find a place that sells the complete kit.
