Default H22 Rev Limiter Problem

Ok guys. My buddy and I both have H22 Accords, but it's an engine related question so I figured I'd get the best response here.

My buddy swapped an H22A into his 90 Accord. Ever since he swapped the car he's been having issues with the rev limiter.

The car hits vtec, but is rev limited to 6500 in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, rev limited to 5500 in 5th and throws code 22 (vtec oil pressure) in 4th gear past 6k and in 5th gear at 5500. What I don't get is the inconsistencies that the symptoms are having.

So far we tried plugging in my P13 which works perfectly fine in my car with the same motor, but no change. We know the pressure switch is working properly. I can't imagine there are any other options but to start redoing some wiring. The car runs perfectly fine other then this small issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated guys.

Check out this recent thread where a member was having the same exact problems, it turned out to be a ground contact so check & triple check all of them.

Nearly forgot for Vtec problems if they are still there after checking grounds, also read this :

Thank you very much. I'll have to double check that for my buddy.

Keep the suggestions coming guys.

I'm the one who did the wiring and after I tossed in a P28 ecu and got it up to 7500rpm before the Code 22 came on. The wiring is fine, but there's a huge dent in the pan where the oil pickup is. We are thinking that not enough oil pressure gets built up to go over 6500rpm. Reason we think the P28 made it go higher is due to the fact that the D16 requires less oil pressure then the H22 ecu would. We are gonna pull the pan off and remove the dent...or replace the pan depending on the damage inside the baffles once we pull it out.

Yah I don't think it's your wiring Seb. Patty should change his oil pan. There was a guy in that other thread that said his oil pan did the same thing to him.

PS: What happened to your car mang?

replace the oil presure senser, or check the wiring. check you oil presure.

when therer is not enough oil presure to engauge vtec, the ecu sets a 6500 rev limit. and waht you thik you hear that isn't vtec is the IABs
