Default ground control problem

i just put my ground controls on and 1. they didnt drop my car as much as i was expecting, and i have the set as low as it will go, and 2. on the front set up my left side sits lower then my right side, could it be because of the weight of the motor is more to that side?or what, is it going to break in and drop some more?even out? let me know. thanks

There's 2 ways to lower the car with GC coilovers: 1)by lowering the coil 2)by lowering the c-clip the sleeve sits on. You might want to lower the c-clip down to the middle or lowest setting, and then see how low you want to drop the car.

For the most part, if the c-clip is on the lowest setting, and you have the coil all the way to the bottom, you should be tucking the wheels.

*Note - I'm referencing this with Koni Yellow dampers - it might be different with other brands and non-adjustable dampers...

speaks the truth.

can you get a better picture? it looks like they werent reassembled correctly. i drew an arrow of how i think it should sit, which is why you arent getting much of a drop.

double check this:

You will not go low with those stock shocks. Judging from the picture you provided, you would have better results with lowering springs rather than a coilover setup. Buy some aftermarket shocks and put the coilover sleeves right over them and they should slide down much further than your stock system will allow them to. It's all in the geometry and configuration of springs and shocks. You can not go low if you only upgrade one of these components.

The C-Clip that they are refuring to are a part of Koni shocks and is not present in OEM shocks.

If you want to drop the car lower than 1.3"-1.5", it's recommended anyway to upgrade your dampers to aftermarket ones. You're better off going with adjustable ones (i.e. Koni Yellow, Tokico Adjustable) since they'll be able to handle the increased spring rates as well as the car being lowered past 1.5".

There's the problem, the bump stop is in the wrong place.

It looks fine to me. That gap between the spring and upper perch occurs when using stiffer springs in a GC or any other coilover kit. It's because the shocks have too much droop travel for the springs.

You should be using a cut OEM dust boot to hold the GC spring isolator in place, though. If you don't, you could have problems with the isolator down the road.

Also, if you want to go that low, you need to cut your stock bump stops.

To me, it looks like your problem is the free length of the springs is too long for the spring rate you've chosen. Either get softer springs, or springs with a shorter free length.

What are the exact specs of your setup? Shocks? Spring free length? Spring rate?

oh yeah, gotcha. didnt even occur to me that your car would have to be jacked up in order to take that picture.. haha. my bad.

dude, the bump stop is installed incorrectly. it's supposed to be on the piston/shaft of the damper/shock assembly.

well i dont think its the bump stop because thats a really thin piece of rubber and it jsut goes right through that, nothign stopping it from going farther like into the springs...is that what you mean?i think i jsut need better shocks.i dont know if these are stock shocks for sure though for some reason i remember them saying like monroe on them or something.

i have ground control coilovers and tokico blue's, and when i first put them on i slammed it just to see what it looked like, and the rear bumper was a inch from the ground and the tires and tucked. front wasnt as low as the back and its was slammed (just not to the ground like the rear.) here's how it sits today.
