Default GReddy Header vs DC Header

i have a JDM H22A powered Acura CL and i currently have a DC Sports Ceramic 4-2-1 header on it which was customized to eliminate a catalytic converter and bolt up right to my exhaust flange. my friend who also has a H22 powered CL with the same modifactation on his Greddy SS 4-2-1 header, is selling his.

so i did a search and found nothing comparing the 2, so my question is should i spend $300 on this Greddy Header hoping that its better than the DC sports header. So is it a better header then the DC performance wise??

another option i have is just dropping $410 on a ESP Race Header??

Dont even bother, you might see a whole whopping 2whp out of it.

Instead spend that money on other mods, like getting your IM port and polished. YOull see much better gains, and be happier.

yeah but im almost positive the DC header has a leak in the flex pipe and the GReddy header is basically brand new.

BTW i noticed your signature. i was gonna buy my H22 from japanese engines in paterson, but i opted for JDM Engine Depot instead. engine deopt actually sold me a expletiveed up motor at first. i discovered it when i did my H23 manual tensioner conversion. i replaced it with another one.

The ESP is a glorified DC. The Greddy is better than the DC, but probably not leaps and bounds.

you wont be getting an RMF unless you get it second hand.

and its six sigma racing. Don't spend more money on another off the shelf header.........

Oh MAN! I just read about the backorders! Oh man. I guess I'll have to fix my dream list up... So I guess I'm going with SMSP, Hytech, SSR then. I suggest you do the same.

I'd do as acidcracker said. Keep your dc. Its not worth that 300. You won't see good gains.

Your leak in the flex pipe could probably be fixed. Just chop it out and reweld in a new flex pipe. That shouldn't cost more than 80$ at an exhaust shop if you buy your own flex pipe. If they can't do it an an hour than they are stooges trying to rip you off.

Than use that 220$ and go get drunk, get buzzed, get fuked up. lol jk. But you could use that 220$ for something better than swapping similar headers (performance wise give or take 3-4 whp).

If I was looking for a cheaper off the shelf header I'd get a Vibrant.

This is a good man right here.

Spending anything on more than 200 dollars on an after market header is just plain retarded unless, your motor is actually a N/A, Turbo, or mabey a No2 application.

The reason I got me a cheapo header replacement from Megan Racing, was because a rust colored header is pretty nasty looking.

I have to agree with you as I haven't noticed much of a difference going from OEM to DC w/ 2.5" all the way back.

I think if you have some money to spend get some cams and a tuning setup. I bet dollar for dollar you can't do worse then spend money on an H22 exhaust. That is unless you like to be loud.

NO shiet!
To Mr. Hat

Its almost like you go big or you go small. If you want to heavily build your motor, spend the money on the best products that have proven gains. If you are just looking for some cheap, quick HP gains, and not looking to make a drag car (you just want to street race a bit, or do "spirited driving") than the lower end products are fine. Think what your goals are first though and think what kind of conditions your going to put your car through.

That of course covers nearly every single H22 out there, which ironically makes the statement almost reasonable. Except it leaves out supercharged H22s, I suppose. Sorry JRSC guys, it's retarded if you buy a header

but did you dyno it? BUTT DYNOs don't count.....
Just for reference, I saw gains of 15whp/9tq by switching from a Greddy header and stock exhaust to Vibrant header and Greddy SP2 exhaust.(~$1000)
12-14whp/10tq from s2s1 cams(~$700 with cam gears) Exhaust isn't as much of a waste as some make it seem.
