i dunno joel, 250 is kinda steap for a "jimmy hat" type sun roof panel.. i guess we will see how it looks once you have them done.. the rust on mine is pissing me off and getting worse.. if it comes out all bling blang like then ill be picking one up off of you to fund your top secret projects.. hehe

No worries...we reviewed the design again and we're going to go with a full replacement again. CF top and frame. Might have a prototype this weekend

Have you tried putting the entire 5th gen assembly so that you can have a slider? I just ordered the entire thing, and am going to try it out. Do you think it will fit with modifications?

No, I don't think that it would fit. I still hadn't had a chance to look at the sun shade itself to see how that's mounted, maybe I'll find a way to fit it in...

Thanks

a member from AP.com has recently done this swap:
Pictures
i asked him about the wind, and water and what not here is what he had to say
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SnlpeR »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> glass sunroof is correct...
from a 5th gen...it finally came in
it bolts in perfect if you use the 5th gen brackets from the slider to the roof panel...
but the front part of the moonroof sticks up half an inch...
i had to make a new bracket out of a flat peice of aluminum so the front part would sit lower.
the front part sits about 1-2mm higher than i would like it to tho...
so later i might just shim the whole sunroof assembly down a bit...but thats too much work
i was able to do all this with just the sunroof panel off
regarding sealing and wind noises...
with the stock metal peice...i had the headliner for the sunroof off for a little bit...
when driving...i could hear the air seeping in
i drove with the glass roof at 50+mph....and i didnt hear any air seeping in..
it seals pretty good..
but water IS able to go in and will ALWAYS be able to get in....thats what the drain tubes are for
i live on Guam...and the sun does shine in...
i think my glass is tinted darker than the moonroof is tinted
ill be putting a couple layers of 5% tint on it sometime..
i want to see how bad it gets
if you 4th gens havent experienced a glass roof...its pretty friggin cool
all the other gens are lucky </TD></TR></TABLE>
i was told by him that all he used was the Glass. he tried using the sliders but they didnt have clearance, and he used the brackets as a template to make his own.
enjoy

Glass sunroof mod
Any updates/writeups/photos on this?
I got my hands on a 5th gen glass panel and brackets on Saturday.
Trial fitted it and it fits great apart from sticking up about 9mm at the front (as mentioned previously).
Do I now have to remove the sunroof panel, brackets and original sliders to shim the lot down?
Photos would be a real help if anyone has any.
Oh, and in my enthusiasm I overtightened one of the studs on the front right corner and it snapped- do you think just the one stud there will still be enough to tighten/lower the panel or have I ruined a perfectly good glass panel?
Any help is greatfully received.
I tried to I.M you RHD_BB4T but not sure if you have to be online for it to get through!
If you want, email me on mgbloke@yahoo.co.uk with advice/photos if you can.
Don't know if any other 4th Gen ludes in Scotland have this mod or not - certainly haven't seen any yet!

Re: Glass sunroof mod (stevenh)
OK guys, just thought i'd post up a quick pic of my 4th Gen Prelude complete with 5th Gen glass roof (fitted tonight ).
All I needed was the glass panel and the brackets that attach the panel to the sliders - they are a different shape from the 4th gen ones (front 2 studs are in different place). Then shimmed the complete assembly down as per previous instructions.
Many many thanks to RHD_BB4T for the invaluable assistance.
First one converted in the UK maybe?!
Bet i'll be testing the watertightness before you guys (I'm in Scotland - it rains here sometimes).

Can you get a pic from the inside, to show how it looks when you look up? I'm wanting to see how it looks without the slider panel, as well as how the sides look from the inside to see if the screws and stuff are visible/ugly.

Re: (stevenh)
Man, this is an old one...
Stevenh:
Not a problem with the help on the conversion at all (seems we ended up being helpfull to eachother). Anyway, I'm glad to see you ended up getting it done. And from your pics, it doesn't look like that broken stud had any adverse effect on the fitment of the panel! Good job!
LudyKrus:
I beleive that you CAN keep the slider panel in place, however I did mine without it. And with the plastic bracket cover that snaps on, you don't even see the bolts that hold the panel in.
Later!
Daniel

Re: (StTook)
You brought this back from the dead huh StTook?
I was talking with some other members and got some more details on the favorited glass conversion.
No kit ever re-produced
Tinting the panel darker works well to block unwanted light
And yes you can cover the mouting bolts, there's a shroud for it that come with the 5th.
I want to know if anybody ever fugured out a way to get the sun-screen in there. I live in sunny San Diego, so that may be an issue, but again you can lessen it with mos tint.

check ebay often for the roof. I've seen 2 in the last few weeks. 1 went for 35 bucks and the other went for 75 and that one was complete package with motor and everything.

Re: (mojo_stevo)
Yeah sorry about the NecroPost
but I figured it was better then creating a new one and getting beat down with "Use the Search feature" post.
Just wanted to see if there have been any updates on fitting it in or whatever, any problems after installation or anything
Maybe there are new models out now that fit too.
