Future plans.... what to do!!?!??
Ok u guys... this is the thing.... since i dont have too much money i'm going to save some money.... around february or march i want to spend approximately 3 grand on my car.... now... i have a 1992 Prelude Si... what can i do for 3 grand? h22 swap? turbo? nitrous and looks? i know that a swap costs approx. 3k and so does turbo... but which should i do? also i was considering h22 head on my h23 (frankenstein) .... lemme kno what u guys think i should do...TIA
it's ur money so do wat do like, is it a high mileage h23 under ur hood? if not, then don't think about the engine swap. Turbo or NOS? make sure you have money to get another h23 in the future....if you think you won't be able for afford to maintain ur engine in the future, don't even bother getting a turbo or NOS. or else start with the looks..
well... i have 120k miles on it and its 1992.... so its pretty old so a swap doesnt sound too bad... but can i pull one off for 3k?
a swap would def be better with that mileage.. but you arent going to notice $3k worth of difference. youd be going from a mid 15 car to a high 14 car. if it were me, id be doing a ton of research on turbos and probably end up going that route. id put my money on the durability of honda motors.

3K won't nearly be enough for a tuned turbo setup...........
do whatever you want show...go....sound.......because there's no one correct way to mod your car....

basically this is what i want to do... there are a shitload of ricers in glendale and you cant drive on the street without having someone rev at you or do a fly-by so what i want is to be able to laugh if a stupid GSR or a Type-R does a fly-by because i want to know that my car is faster.. but i also want looks.... so i dunno....
I would see about having that H23 rebuilt. It may be alittle more somewhere between $3000 to $4000 to rebuild. But I would start there. If you have the money to rebuild it and get it back to a strong platform, save up and add a turbo. Just my .02
nos or turbo is gonna cost you a new motor sooner or later. (jmo)
here is what I've done and cost:
shocks & springs = 1000
brake upgrades (pads, SS lines, rotors) = 400
Suspension upgrades (tower bars, sway bars, tie bars, bushings) = 600
CAI, Catback-exhaust, high-flow cat, intake manafold,header = 1500
There's 3500$
Other mods:
cams, cam gears, headgasket, pistons, rods, springs & retainers: another 2K
just my .02$
go for suspension then go for hp

Yeah, I'd definately work on handling and braking first. If you already have that taken care of, Id wait a bit more, save up more $, and by that time, your engine will have about 140k. Then I'd buy a blown h22a and replace all the internals, built it to support a 8000rpm redline with ~210 whp and you're done. By the time you are done building that, your h23 is REALLY going to be ready to go, and you will have a beastly motor monster ready to be dropped in. I say this mostly because I'm a fan of the all motor route, but you could do something similar with a blown h22a but rebuild it for a turbo set up.
