How about don't race your car? I don't think a bad fuel filter will cause it to die at idle...how does it run?

Doubt it, fuel pumps hardly ever go bad in Preludes, well 92 and up
at least.
Just take the filter off and turn it upside down, see how brown the fuel
looks and how easy it is to blow through it.

Yeah, you may have a vacuum leak or a problem with the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) or IACV (idle air control valve). Search for threads about fluctuating idle and you will find solutions.
You also might need a valve adjustment, especially if you like to drive the car hard.
