Default Front Suspension

I own a 1992 honda prelude si and I need to have my front suspension completely rebuilt and I have no idea where I can find all the required parts to rebuild it and I lack the knowledge on how to do it myself. And the speedometer and odometer doesn't work and I have no idea what is wrong, what part it is, and how to fix it. I would like to have and appreciate any knowledge and ideas that anyone is willing to share with me. Thank You

In order to receive assistance, you're going to need to provide more details. For example, WHY do you say you have to rebuild your suspension? What part or parts have problems? For the speedometer, there are lots of things to check like fuses, wiring, VSS, etc.

buy a helms manual and look up the parts you need to replace. this manual shows you all that you need with exploded views as well as detailed instructions on how to rebuild/replace/reinstall anything you need or want. "help those, who help themselves''

For the suspension do you mean just shocks and springs? Or upper control arms, tie rods (inner & outer)?

For my front suspension I mean upper control arms, tie rods(inner & outer), front right knuckle, ball joints. Basically everything is what I found out when I took my lude into the shop and tried to have it alined. And what is VSS? Thank You.

So this shop told you ALL those parts are bad? Get another estimate just to be sure, or take pictures of them and post here. All those parts can be bought and installed yourself (that's what I would do) if you are capable.

VSS is the Vehicle Speed Sensor, it makes your speedometer and odometer work. The connector on it is vertical, so it is common for it to collect moisture and corrode.

Anytime you are told by a shop you need to replace something, you should always get a second or third opinion unless it is an obvious assessment. You have to remember those shops are out to make money and depend on your ignorance in 'diagnosing' and writing the work orders. (especially with the economy going where its going) The more knowledge you have going into a repair the better. I recommend you read through the suspension forum on this site and look for posts with pictures and insightful discussion. Knowledge is power.

Hit up helminc.com and get yourself a shop manual for your lude. Best purchase anyone can make for a car IMO.

if you need inner and outer i'd be really surprised. i have an assload of miles on mine, beat the hell out of my whip, and never had any issue. not saying it's not possible, just saying i doubt it. ps if you don't know what it is, what it does, and where it goes......DON'T TOUCH IT....quoted by my mom lol get another opinion for sure
