Flashing Oil Lamp Light
The red light above the temperature guage in my 5th gen was flashing the entire way back home, right to the left of the 3000 RPM mark. does this mean my oil temp was high, or that i need an oil change. i just bought it so i dont knwo when it needs an oil change, could be that...
check your oil... on flat surface + after its been cooled down and all the oils back in the sump. then inspect your oil.
when i get a light telling me that somethings wrong, i find it best to check it out... o_o;

it is ment to inform you you have severly low oil pressure however the oil pressure switch can fail. Your going to have to check all the things named above
and probably check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.

i know this is goign to sound crazy, but if you have good oil pressure, and a good presure switch, check your alternator. i know from personal experiance if it goes bad in such a way that the dioad is bad then it somehow causes the oil light to flash. 1 of the reasons i run a mech oil pressure gage at all times in my car

Lol. That's funny.
but to the OP: Anytime the oil light comes on you should NOT drive it until you find out exactly what's wrong. Driving a car without oil pressure is asking for thousands of dollars in damage.
