Theres no point in modding the f22, its a torqy engine but has no top end at all, I should know I have one. At 135 hp stock with a lame 8.9:1 compression, paltry 6200 redline, and long gears...its not worth anyones time but a possible cheap turbo application.

this engine is slow but it still running after 256k...but yea true maybe just a cheap turbo but i was just wondering if anyone has a F22 in the forum...thanks for the replies though..
The F22's not that bad.
It has the H23's 95mm crank, a nice low compression ratio from the factory, and doesn't have FRM..........sounds like a good forced induction motor to me!
I actually wanted to scoop up a cheap F22 lude and do a ghetto turbo setup to see how much power I could squeeze out of it. The motors are dirt cheap, so breaking stuff wouldn't be a huge deal.
Oh, and also: the DSM junkyard turbo setup for the Prelude will bolt up to the F22 as well as the H23.

Well lets see the "lame" compression as you put it is pretty nice if you're doing a turbo set-up. The dying out on the top can be solved by putting a beefier cam in namely a delta regrind. Go ask all the f22 accord guys, they love them. As for redlining, I think all preludes have around the same redline? I could be wrong. Actually I like the long gears, it's the same tranny as the SI. I mean the f22a1 is not a good idea at all for a NA set-up, but then again what's the fun being NA. I think the f22 is a model motor to boost expect for the fact being it's SOHC.

I think he's moved onto an F18A now... still making 300whp though... with a 1.8l...

Yea i own a f22 its a dohc one with mild cams, port and polished head and air induction its doesnt go to bad for what it is. It just has no high rev power like in first once you get passed 5500 revs it goes no where. Not bad cars though just depends what you want it for. Its not what i want it for so im selling it.
Yeah, I have an F22A1 that has over 219K miles on it, and it smokes more than Dennis Leary doing standup! I got the car hella cheap on a dealer trade, $500.
I have a buddy who has an H23 that he took out of his 93 Si; it puked a rod, scorched the crank and dinged the block a bit. I'm debating making a hybrid out of the two.
My intended application is to boost it on down the road, once the engine is together.
Before I get flamed, which is the better of the two blocks? I know that I'll have to have machine work done to them both, but the F22 is currently running. I think the rings are sticking, and it's just plain worn out.

Well the h23 is closed deck vs f22 which is open, closed decks are great for FI. It also comes with slightly larger pistons, along with knock sensor and oil cooler which the f22 does not have stock but can be added.
