F20 ECU needed
i recently bought an H22A Vtec and found out that it wouldnt work with my 92 prelude h23 non vtech auto tranny that i would need to buy a F20 ECU for it to work .Anyone have 1 or care to shed some light on the topic.
huh?
You can bolt an H23 auto tranny to it if you wanted to...but you need an AUTO vtec ecu to use it...
An F20 ecu won't help you at all....the plugs are all different..

hmm all i got was the motor no tranny and my h23 non vtec in the lude right now is auto i was hopeing to just swap th emotors and be gone with it but a tech guy told me my ecu wouldnt work, so i guess what your saying is i need a h22a vtech auto ecu? if so anyone have 1 or know were to buy one?

act a mt ecu WILL work in an auto car. i know i have tried it.
case in point, i was going to build a ls/vtec auto for my now x-gf. everyone kept saying the ecu wouldn't work, yet tcm is seperate from the ecu. i felt it would but left it at that.
then i was building my setup which i went w/hondata. i got a p72 ecu (gsr) to reprogram and remembered this thought i had, so board one day, i hooked it up in my x-girls auto integra, and rode out. drove great, switch gears fine, up and down, in D and sport, as well as R. it threw a code but that was the non-vtec being on a vtec ecu. just for ***** and giggles, i also plugged in my old p13 (h22) and it also worked, just hit rev limit at 6500 cause of non-vtec.
an auto h22 ecu would be optimal, but a regular p13 should work, the only thing is your going to have to find a jdm auto tcm, or it will still shift at h23 shift points.

im not sure about the h23 tranny controler but the jdm tcm i had in my old accord was very unhappy w/o the auto ecu, it shifted hard and slow, it also wouldnt go all the way to redline. it would always shift around 7000 instead of 7600 when i put the usdm manual p13 on it.... i put my jdm at p13 and it was happy again... damn jdm speedlimiters
huh, guess every car is different, the integra actally shifted about 1-200 rpms deeper into redline w/the p72.
at least you confirmed that it will drive, most people flamed and told me it wouldnt work at all when i proposed it w/out trying awhile back.
