Default Exhaust

Ok. quick question need opinions and info. Got a new lude with a trashed exhaust system. Should I
A. Get one off ebay (if so who can I trust?)
B. Find a muffler and get it custom made
C. Buy an actual cat-back system

Depends what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend.

Personally I've gone with both method B and C. C when I was N/A, B when I went turbo. As much as I liked my pre-fabbed exhaust (Greddy EVO), I got something way better and cheaper with method B (3" SS mandrel bent pipes, 3" in/out Vibrant high-flow cat, 3" in/out Vibrant SS resonator, 3" inlet Apexi N1 Muffler).

I agree about 90% with Impulsive. How much are you looking to spend, and what are you plans for the car?

If you intend on keeping it N/A, here's what I did/would do:

1. Hytech replica header - it has a 2.5" collector
2. Carsound highflow cat - 2.5" in/out
3. Your choice of resonator(s)
4. Your choice of muffler
5. Two 2.5" 90º mandrel bends (mild or stainless)

Then, have it pieced together at a muffler shop.

Plan B
Buy a resonator for sure.
Vibrant has nice axle back exhaust.
Vibrant muffler app 300$
magnaflow Cat 100-150$
S pipe and resonator 200-250$
Labor +/- if what you do or don't do

(these were my prices, your's will vary depending on size amongst other things.)

Yeah, I also purchased two flanges with that and than welded them on to make it "bolt" up.

The cat itself was $109 after taxes. Flanges were like $12 a piece from my friend(they were two different ones) and than than the gaskets.

CAD. The cat was purchased at RH (rudy held performance), exhaust flanges were from my friend who works at honda along with the gaskets.

they can't even spell guarenteed. NOOOO!!!

Well if they can give you that exhaust system writen in a legitimate warranty and "Gaurentee" than maybe. I'd off hand say no though. WAAAAAay too cheap especially for SS. I would atleast wait untill you can find someone that has purchased through them and have had their products.

In reality its only like 200 bucks though so even if it last a year it was probably worth it if you put it on yourself.

I dunno, I'm on the fence.

Says the crazy canuck that can't spell warranty.

If you like performance, stay away from these catbacks that claim an increase in HP, all the while having the same size as stock.

Get a twin loop muffler, they sound dope and they are quiet (especially considering how they flow ALMOST as well as a straight through muffler, and much better then a "baffle" type muffler. Some companies I've seen and heard first hand that sound good and seem to be of good quality are; SNL, OBX (I Know what you are thinking, haha, but honestly this was probably one of the nicer pieces I’ve seen and a true 2.5” all the way through), and Password JDM. HyTech also makes one, however it doesn’t seem like you’re tryin to spend that kind of scrilla…

He's not lying about the OBX muffler. I have a 5x11x18 oval muffler, single 2.5 in, dual 3.0 out. It sounds incredible and the muffler cost me $50.

(that's a guess on the dimensions)

OBX can make a decent product? I knew when I woke up this morning after dreaming I owned an MR2 turbo and it got stolen, that when I woke up I was actually in reality still sleeping, reading this.

Oh and I changed my spelling on warranty. I claim ignorance due to a failed educational system that insists on sounding words out and relying on spell check to correct me rather than learning how to properly spell. I guess I could use spell check but I always answer in "quick reply". It does sound like "warrenty" in my defence LOL.

I purchased an ebay exhaust. I purchased a catback, and bolted it on to my h23 then I swapped in a h22a, both on the same stock cat. It sounds great. Its pretty deep, and its actually pretty quiet, without the silencer. It fits perfectly, doesn't stick out of the bumper or go under it. It fits really nice. I paid 120 dollars shipped, and I've had it for over a year with no rust or any other issues. I'll take a video recording the sound to show you guys. I personally could never see myself spending 400-500 dollars for an exhaust when 120 dollar systems are out there, but thats just me.

Yeah i had a obx on my dsm a few years ago. All of my mustang and f body buddy thought it sounded good. I put a tasudo on my lude and love it. No ricer sound, nice and deep tone to it. I got it off of ebay but it was still wasent cheap.

I took a run down to the store, had my blackberry, figured I'd record something quick and throw it up. I'll record a better quality video later

Sounds pretty good. But did you miss a gear? .....lol. j/k. Anyways I'm really not trying to spend that much on this exhaust. I just need something to replace my damaged exhaust. I have a 3rd lude that I will be dumping azz loads of money into in a couple months, so I know then I will be getting something alot more expensive. Probably go with the Tsudo exhaust system off ebay for now. Depends on the availability. Hell I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Fairly common knowledge, but if you're looking for something quiet, don't get a Skunk 2 catback. I bought one and it's incredibly loud. I like the tone and the way it looks, but it's awkwardly loud in traffic on the freeway, for example.
