240 does sound a little rich to me for a stock motor.

OK I'm not following a word you type. You said that there was a 2.3L engine that produced 240hp and 192 tq from the factory, you did not specify that it was in a prelude. So I took the time to look up every known engine from honda's current website and all of their information on their previous models, which they have listed. The only car that I could find that had a 2.3L engine and a VTEC head was the Accord wagon. This engine does not produce anywhere near the numbers that you say it should, therefore I'm flying the BS flag. The Ascot Innova also used the H23 but it did not have VTEC.

Go ahead, get the engine code from the guy, that's going to make no difference to me. The engine code does not give the specified hp and tq since some variants of the same engine produce different power levels (for instance there are two JDM H22a motors with different power levels). I'm going with an official and accurate database that lists all information about every honda engine ever made and you're going off some grease monkey with no connection to honda that obviously specualtes about engine output.

Here is the site with all of the prelude model data from the first prelude ever made through the 5th gen: http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/prelude/index.html

Look all you want you'll never find a 2.3L JDM motor in the prelude section. And you won't even find a prelude that has 240hp in that section. The only 2.3L motor you will find on a current honda is in the accord wagon and there are two flavors, the H23 DOHC VTEC motor and the F23 SOHC VTEC Motor both found in the current generation accord wagon. You will also find the H23 non VTEC motor in the Acsot Innova. The SiR has a CR of 10.6 but I doubt that simply bolting on a head that is slightly polished and has slightly more agressive cams will gain you 40 hp.

Ascot Innova specs: http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData.../23siz_sy.html

Data for all honda cars ever made: http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/

No problem, I have no beef with you. And I was just joking about the grease monkey thing, I happen to appreciate the work that most mechanics do and the extent of their knowledge. But then again there are few that I wouldn't let touch my lawnmower.

What is a 2.2 head on a 2.3 bottom end? Isn't that an oxymoron? Don't you need to use the displacement of bore times stroke to get displacement?
