99 prelude, driving today then all of a sudden my engine light turns on....tested it out..it blinks once ? what does that mean? I am thinking its my vtec controller thats causing it! not sure though.

code # 1 is primary o2 sensor..
check your o2 it might of went bad. cuz you said u were driving and suddenly the check engine light.. check your o2.. hope this helps you out

 

my engine light came on while driving once, same 5th gen prelude. as he said check the o2 sensor in the exhaust. Thats what mine was, oh and do it yourself super easy and honda will charge almost 400 bucks to replace it. after you replace it... if thats the problem then take the ground cable off your battery for like 3-5 mins and put it back on. this will reset your ecu and your check engine light. A prelude checks its o2 sensors at start-up 3 times if it fails to pass any of the three times your check engine light will come on. Before you do any work i would just reset the ecu once to test it. Sometimes just resetting your ecu and start up again your o2 sensor will pass and light wont come back on. If your light remains on it could be numerous things that you would need to test.
