engine check light

Default engine check light

it keeps coming on...sometimes not at all...sometimes its on all the time...
i took it to a honda mechanic...he said there are no errors recorded...so WTF is it ON!?!?!?!?
my otherwise perfect car is sullied by this one little orange light...it really ***** me!

can anyone tell me what might be causing it?

it's hard to say what's causing it by the description you said.
when the cel light is on, stick a paper clip in the connector
and check to see what codes your getting.

Without knowing what codes your car is throwing it's hard to say what's wrong with it. If your car seems to run fine but the check engine light still comes on, it might be the O2 sensor. That's what happened on my 93 VTEC.

underneath the radio, there is a blue connector. IIRC it has a blue/white wire and a brown/white wire. there is a plug on the connector. remove the plug and bridge the connector with the aforementioned paper clip or a wire. turn the key to till the dash lights come on but do not start it.

your check engine light will flash a series of codes. a long flash = ten and a short flash = one. so for example a 43 would be 4 long flashes and 3 short flashes. if you have more than one code it will do each seperate code, then repeat. Check for yourself what code(s) it is, then come back and post here.

I had the same issue on my Toyota truck. It turned out to be a bad O2 sensor.
