Hi, I got a 93 AT Prelude S,
I got the S light blinking, Check Engine light & brake lights ON; but the car seems to run fine.
I know the blinking S light would mean that there' s a tranny problem, but don' t feel anything a the moment so I' m not sure about it as there are the 2 other lights ON too.
The CEL & Brake light don' t light as soon as I start, they light up after, when I' m driving.
I try to get the error codes,
the CEL throw a code 17,
and the S light also blink, it makes a code 4.
Do I have to read error codes only from CEL ?
If anyone have ever see all those light at the same time, could you tell me what' s going on.
As I said before, the car runs fine but these lights are getting me mad

 

cel 17 is the vss (vehicle speed sensor) so i think that might cause the tranny light to come on too. is your speedometer working? as for the brake light you might be low on fluid or the sensor on the master cylinder is messed up.

My speedometer ain' t working, I' ve order one, so it' ll be fix.
So you think the blinking S comes from the speedsensor, I know it' s located on the tranny but didn' t thought it' ll make the S light blink.
Hope you' re right about it.
For the Brake light, brake fluid is OK, how can I check the sensor on the master cylender ?

well since the code is for the vss i dont think replacing the speedometer itself will solve the problem. the vss is the actual problem which is causing the speedo not to work in the first place. i believe the auto tranny light blinking has something to do with the vss since the auto tranny uses the speed (measured from the vss) to operate. so if the vss isnt working then the tranny will throw a code because its not getting the proper info from the vss. as for the brake light.... i remember reading steps on testing that sensor that i'll try to find.

I made a mistake in my last reply, the part I order is the speedsensor .
I' ve check the wire that goes to the speedometer & it' s OK,
I' ve also test another speedometer and and same prob, tachimeter works but speedo ain' t so must come from the speedsensor.
