Default EGR problem???

Ok, since Sleepy won't post this, I will. What would cause an H22 to run better with a CEL than without??? With the EGR system disabled and a CEL on for the EGR, the car runs better than when you put all the vaccum lines and electrical connections for the EGR valve back on and run it. There is a low RPM hesitation it almost sounds like a spark plug wire is off.

You are going to get a CEL regardless of what you do to the EGR. If the computer detects malfuntion say hellow to the little CEL.

Why exactly are you doing this anyways?

sounds like you could have a faulty/clogged egr system. maybe since the ecu thinks the system is malfunctioning when you unplug everything it doesn't even activate the system, but when everything is plugged in the egr system causes problems. but i don't really know, i was just throwing in the idea.

Sounds like that thing may need a good cleaning.

when the plug is plugged in, and vaccum line attached. I HAVE NO CEL! BUT RUNS SOOOO BAD AND WILL NOT MOVE.

my car runs Perfect with no egr hooked up and a cel code 12. I know it sounds crazy but its true.

When the EGR vac lines are removed you are essentially bypassing it. If the car runs better when EGR is disconnected the ports are clogged. If you have cleaned them then it wasnt done properly. 1 port being clogged can cause a problem. Did you use a small drill bit or something equivalent to break through ALL of the carbon in each of the EGR ports?

Your EGR valve could also be sticking as well. Swap with a known good part if you can.

honestly all i did was removed the egr and cleaned only right there...

this engine ran perfect in my 96 lude and it went DIRECTLY from that car to my 94 si...i just dont see how they would have clogged in the middle of me doing the swap...and this swap was done Professionally by me and my dad at our shop...so i just really need an EXACT DETAILED HOW TO on how to do this procedure you speak of.
