Default ecu/vtec problems

so i recently swapped the h23 with the h22a v tec. for a while i was running the p14 from my h23 then i got the p13 which has the v tec. when i put it in it started running really ruff...almost like limp mode. so i assumed it was the ecu and then sold it. the guy i sold it to said he got it and it worked fine. so i then bought another one and im getting the same result. the car is running in limp mode. does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem is. its not throwing any cel's. i was thinking maybe v tec solenoid but im not sure.

So which engine do you actually have?

you obviously have a check engine light. Get the code.

edit: just read the last part again.

does your CEL come on then go off when you turn the car "on"

well when i first hook it up it comes on for a second or two when i first turn it over but it then goes off. so its not throwing any cel codes..

so is the p14 plugged in now and running fine? i dont think an ecu can go into limp mode w/o throwing a code.

knock sensor disabled
PA sensor disabled
Injector Test disabled
Closed loop disabled
2nd heated O2 sensor disabled

i dont know if all this crap he has disabled is messing something up..bc if there something really wrong then its not going to show up...but i do remember with the p13 that i first tried threw a few codes...it threw

heated o2 sensor
v tec pressure switch
coolant sensor
and some other heated sensor

but the thing that threw me was it didnt throw these same codes with the p14 which made me believe that it was the ecu. bc the o2 sensor should show up on both ecu's and it wasnt. the p14 didnt throw any cel's but the p13 did. now that i have the p72 with all this stuff disabled i dont know what the heck is going on. please help someone.

is v tec even that big of a difference bc im close to just throwing in the towel on this...

i'm telling you. Get the o2 sensor enabled. Right now you are running straight off the map and are not gettting aid in fueling from the O2 sensor. You will get horrible gas mileage and the car will prolly idle like ****.

you should really find out what the cels were.

the only things i have disabled is the knock sensor and a couple meaningless sensors for me since the p28 doesnt have them. Your first problem was getting a chip off ebay. Thats a BIG no no in the tuning world.

I know nothing of ecu's but did you insure the solenoid is clean?
I bought a hi-milage lude and after a little seafoam in the oil
mine went into limp mode. Could your h22 have been sitting long?
The filter in my solenoid was clogged with
old oil and trash. It's an easy thing to try.

First off wow came all the way from Wi to help with a swap must be bored. But on to the running issue, my first thought is, do you have the right injectors in? When I did my swap I had to run on the p14 for a few days till my P13 came in the mail. I had the jdm injectors in my fuel rail the whole time. When running on the P14 I ran a bit funny and rich since the p14 controls smaller injectors, then when I got my P13 my car ran great. It sound to me like you have the opposite, your car runs great with the P14 just no vtec, then put in the P13 and the ecu is trying to control injectors that cant flow enough fuel so its all goofy?

well yea..hey we did switch the fuel rail over from the h23 to the h22 but he said the injectors were for the h22. meaning that i have been running the correct injectors...he also went on to say that the injectors may be bad...the engine had sat for a while and they may be no good. so does anyone agree that i should invest in a new set of injectors...he suggested that if i cant find the h22 injectors getting a set of DSM eclispe turbo injectors 380 or 450cc

get a working p13....plug it in and pull the codes start there. the p72 doesnt have the right map for your car. even if it was chipped....ebay chips are useless.
