Door locking and unlocking question
I have a '92 Si, and am wondering if it's normal to be able to open both the passenger and driver side doors using the key from the outside in the door lock.
I can unlock both doors from the passenger side by using the key in the lock, but only the driver side door unlocks when I do it on the driver's side.
Is this typical or is something wrong?

Thanks, I thought I was the only one. I guess in a way it's good to know that it's not a problem.
You'd think they would have changed the wiring for the driver's side, I mean they changed the dash over and everything.

...or maybe they did change it. what if they're thinking that since you're unlocking the passenger side door that somebody is getting in and that the driver has to get in next (i mean, whos gonna drive the car
), so the drivers door unlocks too??

I agree with sivik.
They would have changed the wiring and wouldn't have missed a mistake like that in all the years honda has been doing that. They are a major corporation and would be a known flaw if it was real.
If they did make a mistake it would make no sense in that when you open the passenger side door it only opens for the passenger while you open your own door it opens both?
It makes better sense in that the passenger door opens both and drivers opens only drivers door.
That would be a real nifty unlock system... and as usual Honda makes another great system.

ding ding ding we have a winner
on toyotas turning the key once on the drivers side opens driver door, turning it a second time unlocks the pass door also. Wish honda's were like that.

It is for safety. I don't know about on the 4th gens, but on the 5th gens, when you turn the key to unlock your door, if you hold it over for a second, it will unlock the passenger door, too.

Really? Nice, I will have to try it. That would be rad since I have no OEM alarm/keyfob deal, it was all ripped out before I bought the car.

Yeah. I think it's a nice feature. If you're on a date, you can unlock her door, and yours automatically unlocks. If you're with a friend, they don't have to wait on you to unlock their door once you get in. Just one of those little things I miss when I'm driving another car.

haha?
I don't.
haha?
I don't.
Ok this got me to go downstairs and mess with the car. I have an aftermarket alarm on my 4th gen, so I had to unlock first before trying the key. Drivers door locks both doors but will only unlock drivers door, even after turning a 2nd time or holding for 2-5 seconds. Passenger side locks and unlocks both doors. Jeez I love having a remote!
