I may be replacing my distributor soon and i've got the Helm's and it seems easy enough, but my question is: If i buy an OEM distributor and put it on, do i need to check the timing or will it be set to stock timing? I don't have a timing light, but i could probably get one from AutoZone, so can someone explain this to me. Also, is there anything else i should be careful about when i do this? Thanks.

 

You will need to redo your timing, but it's not hard at all. A timing gun is all you will need, get an adjustable one(they have a dial on the back).

As for the instructions for setting your timing, you have the helm! (but you could search here for it, i've even posted it once!)

save yourself some money, look for a used distributor; muuuch cheaper.
