Default Distributor cap spring

Do all distributor caps have a spring that goes to the internal coil? I have a 98 prelude and not sure if it has one. My car drives fine without it. I have a coil from an f22 but not sure if I should put it in or not. Thanks

No one knows if you need the spring that goes from the inside of the distributor cap to the tower of the internal coil? The helm manual for the accord had a picture of the spring but the helm for the prelude didnt have one. Not sure if its needed

I know that, mines jdm. Do all caps for internal coils have that little spring that goes from the tower of the coil to the cap? Is it necessary? My f22 accord engine had it but I cant find the one for this h22 and im not sure if i lost it or it doesnt have one.

ASE certified and that's all you can come up with??

I'm not sure if all caps have it but mine did off of a jdm h22. When i bought a replacement coil from a civic si it came with the spring. I think it helps to maintain constant continuity between the coil and the rotor.. i could be wrong though.

The reason im asking is because about a week ago my h22 stopped working and I was getting no spark. I had an msd digital 6+ and ss coil at the time. I always wanted to take that off so I went back to an internal coil and put in a new ICM. that cap was the old jdm cap but was missing the spring (or doesnt have one???) so I used the one from my f22b1. My car worked with the new ICM. But only about 2 days later it stopped working. So I swapped in a new ICM and took out the spring and now its been working for a few days. So either:

1. I got a bad ICM from the box
2. Spring has something to do with it
3. Distributor is bad and the new ICM will go bad eventually.
