Default Detonation Problems

I cant figure out what is going on. My timing is retarded 2-3 degrees from stock. I am running 94 octane fuel!! Changed the plugs just to make sure of there heat range. By the way, I am running a 94 H22A motor. Also, I find my car detonates more as it gets hotter!! Please help. I dont want to leave it like this for long!!!!

You might want to check your coolant temps (not with the factory gauge), everything coolant/cooling related. After you are sure the thermostat works and the engine is running cool, fans are spinning the right way, check your fuel pressures, try running your car a bit rich to see if it helps anything (give your TPS a voltage of .5-.6 at the closed position). If the timing, cam timing is right on, it is a fuel or overheating problem......HTH

Thanks. I will check my coolant temps. It gets worse as my car heats up so, maybe....... I've tried running extra fuel to no help. Throttle position sensor reads .52 volts. I dont want to change this as obviously this is not the problem. My cam timing is dead on!! I have had several different tanks of fuel in my car so it cant be that. My timing is right. Going to double check that though. It must be overheating!!!

Do you have an AF meter? Well, check the temp sensor, remove it and clean it if you have spare time, clean the fan switch also, it should be near the temp sensor, go through a helms and check the temp sensor if it is working properly, be sure the fans are running.........

Simply put ,...... detonation is when your combustion chamber gets to hot and explodes the fuel before the spark does. If you know anything about engines, you can only imagine what this would do to one.
