Air/Fuel and Overheating
So I didn't gun my car much today; pretty normal. And then at a stoplight it begins to overheat! So I quickly blast the heat and it goes back down to normal. As I'm driving, I don't understand why my car's overheating. It's not that hot outside, and I didn't get on it much more than normal. Anyway, I was thinking on my Autometer AF gauge it runs about 2-3 green LED's into rich when I'm at full throttle.
Later it occurs to me that the Autometer is a narrow band! So if it was running only 2-3 LED's into rich, that's probably still not rich enough right? I'm not even sure what range of A/F the Autometer covers, but I would think that it wouldn't go into the 12's would it?
TIA
Mike

Those gauges are so inaccurate its not even funny. If you are overheating then a few things are possible.
Cooling system:
1. Check your thermostat.
2. Check your coolant level.
3. Check to see if you have a blockage in the coolant lines.
Engine:
1. Blown Headgasket. If you idle is normal, then its probably not the headgasket.
2. Cracked sleeve.
3. Streched head bolts/studs. You'll need to check the torque specs on the headstuds, your head might be lifting in boost.
Those are the things I can think off the top of my head. If you have been tuning off the autometer air/fuel guage that could be a good explanation of either three of the engine problems you could be having.
