Default Could this problem be fixed by the Ignition switch recalls..5th gen ignition problem

On my 97 sh about every third time I try and start it I turn the key, the dash key light comes on but no start. I usually have to remove and re-insert the key to get it to start.

It sounds more than likely that your ignition switch is at fault, book it into the dealers it's all free of charge anyway and will eliminate that as a problem if not cure it. The recall was done on safety grounds, because the worst thing that can happen is the car cutting out at a critical time like when overtaking.

I take it there isn't a cheap fix to this problem?
