compression questions????
whats up guys, Hey Im about to get the jrsc and I have about 72,000miles on the car now, its a 97, and I checked the compression the other day, and starting from 1 to 4 I had 110, 110, 130,130... is that normal, someone let me know, thanks, Mike
see i just took the coil wire off and let it dangle there, maybe thats why it didnt work, but then i started at 1, took the plug wire out and screwed in the pressure gauge and thats it.............
if you dont know you are suppost to have the throttle body at WOT (wide open throttle), you will get inaccuarate readings if not. Actually did a compression test on my buddys dads ls/vtec (shaved head, thin gasket, and stock bottom) and we got 230 all the way across.
I thought u were supposed to turn the key,and that was it, I didnt know the car was supposed to be running, thats goofy..........Im all jacked up or something..lol
no you are suppost to pull all the spark plugs then install the compression gauge in one cylinder, then have some one crank the motor with the throttle wide open

what do u mean with the throttle wide open, just crankin on the motor? I think i basically did that, I just didnt pull all the spark plug wires out, I just did one at a time...... Hmmmmmmmmmm
Whoa, Whoa, you don't add oil unless you get bad compression in a cyl. Here is a good quick summary:
Pull all the plug wire out, then take all 4 spark plugs out and be sure the line them up in order so you put them back into the same cylinder. Then pull the fuel pump fuse under the dash. Screw the Comp. Tester into the 1st cylinder then push clutch in and push gas pedal all the way down and crank about 9 times. On average you should be around 180-220. If any cylinder is 25% lower than the highest cylinder out of the 4 then you need to pour a cap full of oil into the cylinder and then retest it. If it goes up to where the others are then you have leakage. IE don't superhcarge it. Just by looking at your number you are fine.
