I got mine checked recently they said it was 150 in all 4 cylinders. But the mechanic said it was fine. Car feels good though , do u think I heard him wrong. Motor has 119k on it. Also if my compression is 150 should the car feel terrible ?
150 is low for an H22. Manual says 150 is the minimum, but from all the tests I've run and see people run, 150 is low. Did you watch/help him run the test? Cause there are 2 things to keep in mind when you do it. One is to make sure the engine is hot (not just warm), and that the throttle is wide open when you test
Well most people will say if the cyl range is less than a 10% margin in psi, then its good. Yes there are alot of factor in the test, for one engine temp, for the second WOT, and last but not least the consistancy of each crank during the test. carbon build up can cause a higher read out, but general not all your rings fail at once.. so that is why there is the 10% margin. So if all your cyl's read 150 your good to go.
Forsay that you got like 100 / 150 / 150 / 70... that would be trash. And if two consecutive cyl were low then your head gasket would be bad, Ie: 70 / 80 / 150 / 150.. that would be trash. but 150 accross isnt anything to worry about.
