I bought a 97 prelude with 157000 miles yesterday. The CEL was on and the previous owner said it had been on the whole time he had the car. I got home and jumped the blue harness to find out that it was code #8.

I did a search on here and found that some people simply reset the ECU and the code went away. I went out and unhooked the batt for a few min and hooked it back up and the code was gone. About 30 miles later the light came back on with the same code.

The previous owner told me that the whole time he had the car he had been running 87 octane in it. I plan to fill it up with 91 in the next day or so. Could this have anything to do with my code?

Any suggestions on what to look for?

EDIT.

Come to think of it the flashes seemed kind of slow...maybe it is code 80 if there is such a thing.

I should also add that the car seems to be running great.
