Default Code 505

Ok... My check engine light is on (again) and it is coming up 505. It has done this once before and I had to replace the IACV. That was replaced only like 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know if it could be something else? Thanks in advance.

count the number of long blinks, and then count the number of short blinks

Well somehow Autozone and the Honda Dealership both came up with this code. I didn't do it myself.

Idle Air Control Valve or something like that. That was kind of my question in the first place.

well there are a few CELs that mention the IAC as a potential cause

http://www.hondaprelude.to/main_checkengine.html

look at the ones that list the IAC as a cause I think there is three

yep...here it is in the Helms. Code P0505

Idle control system malfunction.

Probable causes : IAC valve, Fast idle thermovalve, Throttle body clogged port, intake manifold gasket leakage, intake air hose leakage, ECT (coolant sensor) sensor incorrect input

There ya go. I have the whole write up...but to go through all the steps would take all day.

P.S. thats code 14 if you were to check yourself

Mine has set that code twice in that past. I have reset it since and havent had a problem. Its possible that it just got somthing stuck in it, and set the code.

Does you car drive really messed up when it sets that code?

Thanks for all the info. It is greatly appreciated.. It used to do all that before the IACV was replaced, but now it runs fine. That's why I was shocked when the Check Engine Light came on.

Yeah....but its also possible that your Fast Idle Thermo-valve is acting up. That and check to make sure your coolant is full (that what the book said). Cuz a false reading will make you ecu do crazy stuff.
