clutch pedal quickly diminishing....
a week ago my car was normal.
two days ago i noticed that there was a significant amount of extra 'play' in the pedal before it actually started engaging.
today there is even more play.. and the clutch is all the way at the floor.
what is the problem? and is it weather related? last winter this didnt happen..

could be several...
clutch master cylinder is going bad
or
clutch bracket is broken so its not holding the pedal up when you step on it so cant engage the clutch.
both has happened to me...the clutch bracket broke on me a while back, i replaced it, now, 2 days ago the master cylinder went. replaced that car's drivng fine...(knock on wood!)
when the master cylinder went it was how you described it, i felt that there was increasing amount of free play before the clutch engaged, and when it was completely busted, no clutch engagement at all.
hope this helps!

My lil brother just ran home and said that his car is stuck at the light. The clutch pedal is all the way to the floor and doesn't come back up. Its a 90 prelude. You guys think it could be the clutch bracket?
dont forget about the slave cylinder thats what happend to me. luckly there was only one red light i had to stop at. i had to shut my car off. put into first. press gas and then start my car!!!!! it was crazy!!!!

Unfortunately, you should get them both replaced. Bleeding isn't the solution, since the problem is leaky cylinders. You can sometimes waylay the problem by always watching the level of the clutch fluid; but even this doesn't work forever, because air bubbles will still get into the system. Most shops will only replace both at one time.
The downside: Expect to pay up to like $300.
The upside: You get new clutch cylinders and fluid, and you don't have to worry about it anymore.

P.S. that is, of course, assuming it's not just your pedal carriage after all.

resevoir was empty.. i topped it off and the pedal feel slowly came back to normal. the master cylinder under the dash slowly drips.
