I just got the transmission back into my sons 2000 SH. I am worried about the clutch fork and throw out bearing. Once the tranmission was in I check it and the small spring had come out of the grove. I got it back in and can see it it correctly positioned around ball. Should I be worried about the throw out bearing.


Is there any what to confirm that throw out bearing is still properly attached.

 

i had a similiar problem when i just did my clutch, i messed with the fork while trying to get the transmission to bolt back up. i just took the plastic boot that covers the fork off got my fingers in there worked the clip back on and when i bleed the slave cylinder i just made sure the it was taken the slack off as long as you take your time and watch it make sure nothings funny when you bleeding it and it has no play. You should be in good shape.

 

I got the clip back on without issue. My concern is the free play in the fork. I think I am being paranoid but it has some movement. When I changed the slave cylinder in the past I don't remember movement. The boot seems to line up correctly and the slave cylinder seems to line up as well. I think the bearing might just be sliding on the shaft. Did you have any movement in your fork?

 

even after bleeding? mine had movement up to the final bleeding of the slave cylinder then it tighetned up and the clutch worked normal i've had no problems since. If even after bleeding it's still moving freely then the bearing might have worked itself off the fork you might not be totally shot thought if you can get the bearing back in place with your fingers or someone with a small enough hand to get it back in place. If still worried you might have to pull the tranny again just to make sure :/

 

No I have not bled the clutch yet. I think if it was off bearing I would have more up and down play. I am going to get the ATTS back in and hope for the best.
